Helmet Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The headwaters of Helmet Creek come gushing out of the Washmawwapta Icefield, and almost immediately plunge over 1000 feet to the valley below. The falls actually consist of two streams, fed by two separate glaciers, which merge mid-fall, then drop over the second, smaller tier of the falls. The falls can only be reached via a 9 mile hike from the popular Vermilion Paint Pots. |
