Kalendula Falls are commonly thought to be 344 feet tall. We have a hard time buying this. Edward Rashleigh, in his book "Among the Waterfalls of the World" cites them at '...scarcely 100 feet in height'. We're fairly certain they're bigger than that - we suspect something in the vicinity of 200 feet - but we have no way to prove otherwise, so until we can get ahold of some maps, the long-cited height will remain. The falls are more commonly known as Duque de Braganca Falls. This name was used pre-independance and since 1976 the falls have been known as Kalendula. |
