This is one of three waterfalls in Norway we've found by the name of Espelandsfossen. Now, on many "world's tallest" lists, a waterfall by the name of Espelandsfossen often appears as being 2307 feet tall. We have concluded, through all of our research, that this waterfall is the Espelandsfossen thought to be 2307 feet tall. In Norway, waterfalls are often measured based on their potential for hydroelectric production. If the vertical drop of Espelandselvi, the stream this waterfall occurs along, is measured from the lake it originates in, the drop is close to 2300 feet, which would account for the erroneous figures. In the end, this waterfall is only 426 feet tall, but still quite impressive. |
